DISPATCHER: 9-1-1, what’s your emergency?

HALLORANN: My son is having a seizure. I’m at home. It’s —

DISPATCHER: All right, can I have your address please?

HALLORANN: 63 Abernethy Lane, St Petersburg. The zip is 33701.

(Typing)

DISPATCHER: All right, I’m getting an ambulance dispatched to your location. Can you tell me how old is your son?

HALLORANN: He’s 9.

DISPATCHER: Does he have a history of seizures?

HALLORANN: No, this has never happened before. He hasn’t … it’s still going. My w … my wife is with him. Please hurry.

DISPATCHER: Has the seizure been going on longer than five minutes?

HALLORANN: About three? He was sitting at the table and I had my back turned just for a second. I heard the chair fall over but it could have started before that.

DISPATCHER: Can you describe his behavior?

HALLORANN: He’s shaking and … and jerking. His eyes are rolled back.

DISPATCHER: Any history of seizure disorders in your family?

HALLORANN: Oh my god, he’s coughing. I think he’s choking. No, Bree, turn him on his side!

DISPATCHER: Are you still there?

HALLORANN: Oh my god, please hurry.

DISPATCHER: Paramedics will be at your house in just a few moments. Don’t panic, OK?

HALLORANN: He just coughed something up. He …  I think he swallowed a stick.

DISPATCHER: He swallowed a stick?

HALLORANN: Yeah. No, he just coughed it up. I don’t know when he would have —

DISPATCHER: Farrow is dead, Quinn.

HALLORANN: What?

DISPATCHER: Were you aware he had swallowed a stick?

HALLORANN: No, what did you just say to me?

DISPATCHER: Burn his diary.

HALLORANN: What are you talking about? Answer me!

DISPATCHER: Burn it, burn it, burn it, burn it, burn it, burn it, burn it … (shouting) Burn it! Burn it! Burn it! Burn it!

(Mrs. Hallorann disconnects the call.)

Paramedics arrived and transported the patient to St Petersburg Hospital. The 911 dispatcher, whose name has been withheld from the record, was likewise conveyed to St Petersburg Hospital, where she was determined to have suffered a stroke.
